Biography

Derrick D. Perry is a Norristown native who attended the Norristown Public System and graduated from Norristown Area High School in 1993. As one of the top basketball players in Montgomery County and the state of Pennsylvania, Derrick enrolled at New Mexico Junior College on a full athletic scholarship in the Fall of 1994 and earned an Associate degree in Liberal Arts. In 1996, he transferred to Rider University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in Public Relations.

Derrick has two children Joecy and Derrick Jr. Derrick's family is his pride and joy. He is a man of faith, who is a member of Tabernacle Deliverance Church located on East Marshall Street in Norristown.

Community Service

As a resident of Norristown, he is an active community member. Mr. Perry is a member of a non-profit organization called One Love Club, in which they provide various resources to address the needs of the community. He is passionate about improving and embracing community diversity, which is one of the reasons Mr. Perry ran for council.

Derrick's community efforts include feeding the homeless, assisting bereaved families, coordinating positive activities for the youth and serving as a mentor. He also volunteers for the Special Olympics, serves as a basketball referee with the PIAA and a basketball coach.
