Norristown Municipal Council Adopts Campers

NORRISTOWN, PA – The Municipality of Norristown announced today the launch of the Council Adopts a Camp Child (CACC) program.  The program, spearheaded by the Municipal Council, is dedicated to supporting Norristown children by sponsoring summer camp attendance.

Norristown Recreation’s summer camp program is wrapping up but, before it comes to an end, the Council wanted to show their commitment to the children of Norristown. “We wanted a chance to give back to our families.” Norristown Council President Sonya Sanders commented. “With back to school around the corner, we understand the hardships some families may be facing and hope this donation helps out.”

In total, almost $2,000 was contributed from the council discretionary account towards camp fees. A random selection process determined who received the sponsorship out of the eighty (80) children who were enrolled in the newly revamped summer camp program located at Elmwood Park and Hancock Elementary.  The Council Adopts a Camp Child will be a yearly program.
