The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has just advertised that they are accepting applications for rent and mortgage relief for those who lost income due to the economic slowdown.
NOTE: These applications may be completed now, but the date you can submit them is July 6.
Homeowners: https://www.phfa.org/pacares/mortgage.aspx (up to 6 months of mortgage payments, at a maximum payment of $1,000 each. Total relief of $6,000)
Renters: https://www.phfa.org/pacares/rent.aspx (up to 6 months of rent payments, at a maximum payment of $750 each. Total relief of $4,500).
The Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, passed in March, provided $3.9 billion for Pennsylvania and is intended to help people hurt economically during the pandemic. In late May, the General Assembly directed $175 million of these CARES dollars to PHFA to provide assistance for struggling renters and homeowners. The portion for mortgage assistance is $25 million.
