[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 mortgage, rent assistance applications with the state

The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has just advertised that they are accepting applications for rent and mortgage relief for those who lost income due to the economic slowdown.

NOTE: These applications may be completed now, but the date you can submit them is July 6.

Homeowners: (up to 6 months of mortgage payments, at a maximum payment of $1,000 each. Total relief of $6,000)

Renters: (up to 6 months of rent payments, at a maximum payment of $750 each. Total relief of $4,500).

The Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, passed in March, provided $3.9 billion for Pennsylvania and is intended to help people hurt economically during the pandemic. In late May, the General Assembly directed $175 million of these CARES dollars to PHFA to provide assistance for struggling renters and homeowners. The portion for mortgage assistance is $25 million.
