NORRISTOWN- The Municipality of Norristown launched this week a new online platform that encourages residents to have more input into their local government.
Norristownbuzz.org is now the official tool for municipal staff to collect feedback and information from residents for a wide array of projects and policies being considered. The platform was created by CitizenLab, a Belgium-based tech company, that municipal council agreed to contract with in the summer of 2021. CitizenLab has hundreds of clients across the globe, including, in Pennsylvania, the City of Lancaster and Carlisle Borough.
CitizenLab creates “projects” centered around one topic or focus area needing community input. Projects can include polls, surveys, budget allocation scenarios, and more tools to collect feedback from residents.
The first project launched on norristownbuzz.org is American Rescue Plan Act- Investing in Norristown. This project is expected to be open through early spring to provide as much time to allow residents to tell us how to use the bulk of $20.1 million the municipality received in COVID economic stimulus funds ($5.5 million has already been approved by council for a number of initiatives including budget remediation).
Registration is required in order to provide feedback and engage with the platform. There is no cost to register, and your account may be created through your Google or Facebook accounts. This is open to only Norristown residents and your address will be verified upon registration.
