[ARCHIVED] Norristown FD to move out from DeKalb Street station

NORRISTOWN- The Norristown Fire Department is removing all equipment and personnel from the Norristown Hose Fire Co. station at 627 DeKalb St. effective immediately.

The station, which is privately owned, has been deemed unsafe by their engineers. It houses two fire trucks and a rotating crew of 12 full-time personnel.

Norris, a full-time, career station within NFD, will move operations to the other full-time career station, Montgomery Hose Fire Co., at 201 W. Freedley St.

The relocation will not impact the delivery of fire and rescue services to the community.

All emergencies should be called into 911 for immediate response.

Norristown Fire Department operates with 23 full-time personnel and responds to approximately 1,300 calls a year.
