Municipality Releases Results of Resident Feedback on Public Safety

NORRISTOWN, PA – On the heels of their first successful stop on their “Listening Tour” throughout the community, the Norristown Municipal Council today announced the release of a report detailing the results of the Promoting Public Safety listening session in the Municipality. This data will be considered by both Council and staff as the Municipality looks to improve public safety operations and prepares the 2018 municipal budget.

“This Listening Tour series is really about hearing from our residents and local businesses,” said Council President Sonya Sanders. “The overriding goal is to obtain honest feedback from the community that Council and municipal staff can use to make government more efficient, more effective, and more responsive to the needs and concerns of everyone who lives or works in Norristown. While we want to hear concerns and complaints, the community is better served when we get information and suggestions that help us make policy decisions.”

“Municipal Council and staff continue to be receptive to all types of feedback from residents,” according to Municipal Administrator Crandall Jones. “Having a better understanding of what the community believes we are doing right, as well as their thoughts on we need to improve, is definitely helpful in enhancing how we serve the community. When you combine direct resident input, professional expertise from staff, and quantifiable performance data on municipal operations, Council ends up with the best possible information to use to both formulate policies and develop the 2018 municipal budget.”

The Municipal Council Listening Tour, a series of policy discussions in which attendees are able to provide LIVE feedback on important community topics, will continue throughout August and September in various locations in Norristown. The next stop of the tour will focus on code enforcement, and will take place Saturday, August 12 at noon in the George Washington Carver Center. There will also be stops centering on economic development on August 24 and community trust on September 14. The public can view detailed summaries of results and full recordings of each meeting after they occur on the Municipality’s website and Youtube page, respectively.
